Features Offered by VoIP Broadband Phone Providers
![]() |
Voice Over Internet Protocol, also known as VoIP, is one of the most useful innovations in the communications world to date. Thanks to VoIP, you can communicate by voice using your broadband Internet connection, and save a bundle doing it. Not only is Voice Over Internet Protocol great for residential users, it is useful for businesses as well. It's cheaper and easier than ever to hold interactive conference calls with people all over the world thanks to VoIP. Because of the boom in the industry, you will find there are numerous VoIP broadband phone providers all vying for your business. But what exactly do they have to offer?
For starters, most providers offer a variety of plans so that every consumer can find the right one for their needs. There are business and residential unlimited plans, in addition to plans that limit the minutes. If you don't need an unlimited plan you can save money by going with a cheaper plan with a limited number of minutes. While many of the plans cover domestic long distance calls to the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico, others also offer international calling options as well. The key is to browse around for awhile and compare the different plans from different providers before deciding which one you want.
VoIP service isn't the only thing providers are offering these days. Many of them, like Vonage for example, sell their own phones and phone systems, adapters, modems, handhelds and other accessories to further improve your communication options. With these phones and adapters, you can connect anywhere there is Internet access, even in wireless Internet cafes and certain other locations like libraries, cafes, airports and parks. Another great benefit of many providers are their referral programs. For example Joi Phone will credit your account and the account of anyone you refer to them with $15.
Speaking of earning money, many VoIP broadband phone providers offer reseller programs which allow you to get a piece of the action. When you become a reseller, it is your job to promote the products and collect the profit from any sales you make. The company will handle everything else, including customer service and all technical issues. As you can imagine, a person can make a little or a lot promoting VoIP services. It all depends on how many sales you make and what your profit margin is. Most of the time, you will make around 20 to 30 percent depending on the company you work with.
